Gay Pride T-Shirts Show Support for LGBT Causes

To many lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people, the Stonewall Riots of 1969 represent the beginning of the Gay Rights Movement. This uprising of gay, lesbian and transgender people against the police is only one event in the decades-long fight for LGBT rights. In June 2015, the push for marriage equality resulted in a victory with a landmark Supreme Court decision.

During the last 50 years, LGBT people have made great strides in their fight for equal treatment under the law, but there are still protections and rights for which the minority group continues to fight. LGBT people and allies can show their support for different LGBT causes through pride-themed T-shirts. With these T-shirts, they can communicate to others that they are passionate about a cause related to equality, such as the fight for employment protections or LGBT rights for people around the world, or just show pride in their LGBTQ identity.

In the recent past, many individuals wore T-shirts with images of male-female, male-male and female-female couples that supported marriage equality. LGBT pride T-shirts can also be in support of an event, such as an LGBT pride celebration in a specific city or state.

For most people who wear and see others sporting LGBT-themed T-shirts, they have a greater meaning than just some throwaway message. They help to connect people to the LGBT community or an LGBT-themed cause or group in some way.
